The Making of Pride and Prejudice

Author: Sue Birtwistle, Susie Conklin
Genre: Making-of
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 9
Type: Non-fiction
Number of pages: 117
My overall opinion: If you love the 1995 Pride and Prejudice, you’re going to want to get your hands on this book! I really have enjoyed reading it again and again. It’s got all kinds of fun details about hair and makeup and filming (did you know that one of the few actors who didn’t have a wig was Susannah Harker, who played Jane? But she did have two and a half feet cut off the front, since long hair in the front wasn’t in back then). There are also plenty of pictures of many things – the locations, the costumes, the material used in them. And of course, lots from the filming! Including some special behind-the-scenes shots that you don’t see very often online! It also includes an interview with Colin Firth about being Mr. Darcy. There is a cast list (with pictures of the actors, though not all), and some quotes from the actors too. Altogether a very fun and helpful book! It’s worth buying.

  1. I got this book with a collector's edition of Pride and Prejudice (not sure if you can still get it since it was the original DVD release and now the stores sell the restored edition). I loved flipping through this book!
