My overall opinion: This book has very mild romance, and you don't know who it's going to be until the very end! It was a fun read, but as you can see it was very long and took me several days. It got a little tiring by the end. Another annoying thing was that it had a lot of French phrases and conversations. Not so much as to impede my understanding of the book, but enough to be rather annoying. Overall: takes some patience to read, but can be worth it.

My overall opinion: A good book, completely clean. Wanda Brunstetter is a good author.

Time Cat

Author: Lloyd Alexander

My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8

Exciting events: Time travel, exciting encounters in other centuries

My overall opinion: First of all, this isn't really a science fiction book. It's about a cat who (contrary to popular belief) doesn't have nine lives, but rather can travel with a companion to nine different time periods and countries. I thought it was a fun read, though aimed at kids younger than teens probably.

Okay. I just had to draw some special attention to the banners designed by the owner of Elegance of Fashion. Don't you love them!

The above three are from Pride and Prejudice. The first one is my favorite scene!

Lady Susan

My overall opinion: This is a really weird Jane Austen. It's made up of letters from a scheming mother to her equally schemey (?) friend. It's pretty terrible, but funny in places too.

My overall opinion: This is a pretty good book. All of Jane Austen's are, but this one was especially good. I think it's become one of my favorites, along with Emma and P&P. I recommend it!

Based on: Real-life Sergeant York, the person who got the most medals (I think) of anyone in the US after World War I)

My overall opinion: A fun movie. Black and white, but pretty cool!

The Hobbit

Author: J. R. R. Tolkien

Genre: Adventure

My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8.5

Type: Fiction

Main characters: Bilbo Baggins (delightful name), Gandalf, Thorin, a dragon, goblins, Gollum, many more!

Exciting events: Nearly being burnt, catching a dragon, killing the Great Goblin, climbing trees, giant spiders, much much more.

Passage from book or back cover: About hobbits: They are inclined to be fat in the stomach; they dress in bright colors (chiefly green and yellow); wear no shoes, because their feet grow natual leathery soles and thick warm brown hair like the stuff on their heads (which is curly); have long clever brown fingers, good-natured faces, and laugh depp fruity laughs (especially after dinner, which they have twice a day when they can get it).

My overall opinion: This book is a classic. I highly recommend it. Full of adventure and near-escapes, it's very fun for most ages, and not overly  hard to read. My mom read it aloud to us when my sister was 6, and she still remembers a lot of it (she's 11 now). It's a GREAT book.

My overall opinion: Ralph Moody writes about his life in the early 1900's in this exciting book! A good read, couple of uses of words that I don't use myself.

Angel on the Square

My overall opinion: A good book, about the years preceding Tsar Nicholas and Empress Alexandra's deaths, with their four girls and son. Very interesting.

More Than Conqueror

Author: Grace Livingston Hill

My overall opinion: This is another favorite from this author. Her style is sweet, clean, and enduring - always a delight to read!

My overall opinion: Love the above line. This was a pretty good Louis, I enjoyed it quite a bit. :) I recommend it!

My overall opinion: Just going by what we have down so far, it sounds like a really boring book. But believe me, it isn't! All the behind the scenes info and pictures from the 2005 The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It's a really great book, I've spent hours reading it. Highly recommended!
