Male Doubles: Post 1

Hey everyone! First, thank you SO much for all the doubles you gave me when I asked for help! Your assistance is what made this first post possible. :) Second, I got so many doubles that I have to seperate them somehow, and the easiest way was by male and female. But even that was long, so this first post has five male actors and the roles that I or you would know them from. There will be another males post, and then some female ones. I'm not sure how many more male and female ones may come, we'll see how many doubles I find! If you have any ideas or suggestions for the future, please let me know. :) Oh, and also please let me know if any pictures are wrong!!!! Since I haven't seen some of these, that's a real possibility. Thanks again! Okay. Here we go.

* means I haven't seen the movie

Great post! I look forward to more. The picture for King George V is not the right one, though. Here's a picture from The King's Speech: http://img.poptower.com/pic-39266/kings-speech-movie.jpg?d=600

Let me know if you need anymore doubles. I'd be glad to help! :-)

This is a great start! Love the photos.
A few things I noticed, you put Rupert Evans as being "Frederick Hale (Wives and Daughters, 1999)" when I'm sure you meant to put "(North and South 2004)".

Also the one photo you have of Sir Michael Gambon that's quoted as being "King George V (The King's Speech, 2010)" is actually him dressed up as a wizard from one of the Harry Potter films. For your convience here is a direct link to him as King George V (http://themodernallegory.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/michael-gambon1.jpg).
Also I'm not sure if you've seen 'Cranford' but here's a photo of him with Dame Judi Dench as Miss Matty (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/2008/04/30/2004383815.jpg).

Keep up the good work! I really enjoyed this post! :)

Great Post! I can't wait to see the next ones. It's going to be interesting to see who is in the most period drama movies :)

It's interesting to know what other roles the actors portrayed. I loved Sir Ian McKellen's role as Gandalf. And Michael Gambon's role as Mr. Woodhouse. Colin Firth is an all-time favorite actor. For some reason, I don't like Blake Ritson. I can't believe he played the role of Edmund in Mansfield Park (207). I'm excited to see more "doubles"!

Thanks for catching the wrong Michael Gambon picture, Elegance and Miss Laurie. :) I didn't think it looked quite right, but at least I was sure it was him! Thanks for a link to another, Miss Laurie. I'll replace it soon.

Elegance of Fashion, if you can come up with more doubles that have starred in at least one movie I've seen, please let me know! I don't promise to do them, but they'd definitely get considered. :)

Ugh, yes, Miss Laurie, I did mean to say North and South. I'll change that when I finish this comment. :)

Thank you, Tristans_Isolde. I had so much fun putting this together! I've got a couple more already in the works.

Jemimah, yes, isn't McKellen great as Gandalf? Absolutely perfect. Colin Firth...definitely a favorite here too. :) I personally think Blake Ritson is ugly or oily or something. But a lot of people online seem to like him...I'm glad there's another person with me.

Glad you all enjoyed it! Thanks for the comments!

I don't like Blake Ritson! (waves hand)

:-)

This is sooo fun. :-) Ian McKellan was brilliant as Chauvelin - absolutely perfect - and Colin Firth is great, of course...loved his Jack Worthing and his turn in The King's Speech was just *amazing*.

I'm wracking my brain for other ideas...

Rupert Friend - Mr. Wickham in P&P 2005 and Albert in The Young Victoria

Anthony Andrews - Sir Percy in The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982), Edward VIII in The Woman He Loved, Sir Stanley Baldwin in The King's Speech, Wilfred of Ivanhoe in Ivanhoe (1982), Tommy Beresford in Marple's By the Pricking of My Thumbs

Simon Woods - Charles Bingley in Pride and Prejudice 2005, Dr. Harrison in Cranford

Ewan McGregor - Frank Churchill in Emma (1996), Norman Warne in Miss Potter

Bill Patterson - Dr. Gibson in Wives and Daughters, in Amazing Grace (I can't remember his name in that one), Mr. Potter in Miss Potter

Chris Sarandon - Charles Darnay/Sydney Carton in A Tale of Two Cities, Prince Humperdink in The Princess Bride

Hahaha. This is addictive. :-D

Oooh! Sorry if I was mentioning actors from movies you haven't seen. I got so caught up in naming actors, I got a little carried away. ;)

I remembered that Elizabeth Spriggs was in Sense and Sensibility (1995) as Mrs. Jennings, but I also remember that she was in Wives and Daughters as Mrs. Goodenough and she was in the 1999 version of A Christmas Carol. It looks like she was in a couple of other period dramas.

Ooh! Great post :) Gotta love Colin Firth and Rupert Evans II. I've only seen Blake Ritson in Emma {2009}, so maybe that has clouded my opinion of him but, he looks ridiculously awful in the last photo.... haha! However, if he is in Mansfield Park, I might have to give him a second chance ;)
