My overall opinion: Another awesome book by Bodie Thoene. I’ve only reviewed numbers 8-11 (and now 12) in this series, but I’ve read all of them. Each book (in case you’ve forgotten) is based on a story from the life of Jesus. The earlier ones cover His birth, and various miracles. This book concentrated on the story of the Samaritan woman who’d had multiple husbands, and was now living with a man who wasn’t her husband. Jesus met her at the well and told her about living water. Well, once again, Bodie Thoene totally made this story come to life. If you enjoy historical/Biblical fiction…this is one series you definitely want to check into.

One thing I don’t love about these books…about ¼ or maybe even 1/3 of each book is a study guide. At the end. So you expect the book to keep going, and the ending always (to me) feels sudden, since you have all these pages left. Although I’ve learned to expect it. J Other than that…I enjoyed this series.

My overall opinion: I'm ashamed to admit that I read this book quite some time ago and somehow missed reviewing it! Whoops. So sorry. Anyway, this one is about the story of Jesus as a 13 year old who disappeared from his parents and was found at the rabbi's feet, speaking of the Scriptures! The Thoenes did make up a lot, as usual. And I should warn you: it's a good book, great story, but there are a TON of study pages, as in, almost 1/2 the book, which is very annoying. So.

Eleventh Guest

My overall opinion: Another good book by the Thoenes! Recommended. This one is about some lepers, and each leper tells his or her story. Intersting to learn their "history!" They tell their stories while journeying to find Jesus and ask him for healing. Oh, and there is a study guide of maybe 50 pages at the end.

Tenth Stone

My overall opinion: I love these books. This one was a re-telling of the Prodigal Son! It was very interesting.

Eighth Shepherd

My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8.5

Main characters: Zachai, Yeshua, Salmon, Shimona

Exciting events: the whole book!  

My overall opinion: Brock and Bodie Thoene write a lot of historical fiction. This particular series is about Jesus, from His birth to (I presume, though I haven't ended it yet) His death. This book was about Zaccheus. These are REALLY great books, making those stories come to life more than ever before.
