Horse Dreams

Author: Dandi Daley Mackall

Genre: Kids, animals

Series: Backyard Horses

Number in series: I think it's more of a set than a series

My rating on a 1-10 scale: 7

Type: Fiction

Number of pages: 148

Time period: Present

Main characters: Ellie

Exciting events: A mysterious horse...!

My overall opinion: A fun read for grade-school kids! I know my sister will love it. :) Especially good for any horse lover! Probably second grade on up can read it. A fun clean story, with a focus on God.

Book blurb: Meet Ellie James, a fourth grader with a great imagination. Ellie spends a lot of time daydreaming about owning a black stallion show horse and winning trophies in the horse show. But when the answer to all her dreams and prayers gallops into her life, will Ellie be able to recognize it?

Movie: Cinderella

My rating on a 1-10 scale: 9

Main characters: Cinderella, fairy godmother, handsome Prince, wicked stepmother

Genre: Animated, fairy tale, fantasy

Series or set: Disney

Primary actors: Ilene Woods, Verna Felton

Length: About an hour and a quarter

Based on: The classic fairy tale

Time period: Fantasy

Exciting events: It has some, but they're hard to summarize

Quote(s): You'll have only 'til midnight, and then...

Year it came out: 1950 (really)

My overall opinion: Out of the Disney's I've seen (not too many), this one was a favorite. Very classic.

Time Cat

Author: Lloyd Alexander

Genre: Fantasy, animals

My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8

Type: Fiction

Number of pages: 206

Time period: Several!

Main characters: Jason, Gareth

Exciting events: Time travel, exciting encounters in other centuries

My overall opinion: First of all, this isn't really a science fiction book. It's about a cat who (contrary to popular belief) doesn't have nine lives, but rather can travel with a companion to nine different time periods and countries. I thought it was a fun read, though aimed at kids younger than teens probably.
