Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Demigod Files

Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fantasy, companion
Series: It’s a companion to the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series.
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8.5
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: About 100
Passage from book: No excerpt, but the book includes maps, short stories, interviews with the most important characters, a crossword puzzle, etc!
My overall opinion: I enjoyed it. Wish all my favorite books had a handbook like this!

Battle of the Labyrinth

Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fantasy
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Number in series: 4th
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8.5
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: 361
Time period: Fantasy/present day
My overall opinion: Again, see my reviews of the earlier books in this series. I liked this one a tad more than some of them – labyrinths have always intrigued me. Though I’d really hate to be in one, stories set in one are most interesting.

Sea of Monsters

Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fantasy
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Number in series: 2nd
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8
Type: Fiction
Time period: Fantasy/ present day
My overall opinion: I don’t think that these books were as dark as the first one seemed to be. I’ve read thru #4 at present, and I don’t think it’s there as much. However, the Greek gods are still there in all their force! The whole series is centered around them, so. Again, Rick Riordan is a wonderful author. And it’s a series that’s hard to stay away from when (for example) you’re supposed to be doing school. :P

The Titan’s Curse

Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fantasy
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Number in series: 3rd
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: 304
Time period: Fantasy/present day
My overall opinion: See my review of Sea of Monsters. I thought essentially the same stuff.

The Lightning Thief

Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fantasy (definitely)
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Number in series: 1st
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8 (actually…about 8.24)
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: 377
Time period: Present
My overall opinion: Wow. I’ve been mulling over this review for days trying to decide what to say (and whether or not I’m going to finish the series). Let’s see here. I’ll do numbers…no particular order. 1. I didn’t like all the gods. Obviously, I know that there is only one true God. I think I could safely say that the Greek gods (Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, etc) are a gigantic part of this story. I don’t want to completely give it away, but that was an aspect that bothered me. And since it’s major in the story… hmmm. 2. Rick Riordan was a wonderful author. The book was interesting, and yeah, he’s a great writer. 3. It was a little dark. Maybe a bit more than a little. That bothered me too. 4. Will I finish the series? We’ll see. If so, you’ll hear about it. J 5. Thoughts, anyone? Have you read it? What did you think? What DO you think? Should I finish it? Decisions… lol, by the time you read this review, it’ll be well over a month since I read the book, so the “should I finish it” question will be a little outdated.
For those of you who are overwhelmingly curious...yes, I read the rest. :)
