Sea of Monsters

Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Fantasy
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Number in series: 2nd
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8
Type: Fiction
Time period: Fantasy/ present day
My overall opinion: I don’t think that these books were as dark as the first one seemed to be. I’ve read thru #4 at present, and I don’t think it’s there as much. However, the Greek gods are still there in all their force! The whole series is centered around them, so. Again, Rick Riordan is a wonderful author. And it’s a series that’s hard to stay away from when (for example) you’re supposed to be doing school. :P

I've been a huge fan of Greek mythology since the 6th grade. When my nephew was in Jr. High, he read these books, and I read them, and loved them as soon as he'd let me get my hands on them.

I love how Riordan deals with things like ADD and dyslexia in these stories. And he includes some great life lessons amidst the action too.

When you finish these, look for the second series "Heroes of Olympus." The first two have been released so far.

Great review! I must agree that the other books are not as dark, and I think his writing style improves as the series progresses.

PS. They are so hard to put down, especially when you are suppose to be doing school. :)

Andrea, I will look for that series! I think I did read the first one already...I read these a coupla months ago, though the reviews are just getting published now. :) A review should be coming.

Elizabeth, glad to know I'm not the only one! And yes...these books are bad for schoolwork.
