My overall opinion: I was so ridiculously happy when Lisa T. Bergren’s newest book arrived in my mailbox earlier this week – and when I finally had time to settle in and read it yesterday, I discovered my happiness was well-deserved. This book is worth buying, worth owning, and worth reading again and again. The adventures kept me turning pages as fast as I could read them. The romance was sweet, and I was glad Cora finally had a definite idea of what she was doing in that area. There was some mystery mixed in, some totally unexpected twists (seriously, you won’t see them coming), and all around? 400 pages of must-read book. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in Italy, the early 1900s, the fancy grand tours of that time, Europe in general, a sweet Christian romance, or some exciting mystery!

My overall opinion: Hooray! This second book in the Grand Tour series by Bergren did most certainly not disappoint in the least! It was absolutely riveting…I couldn’t stop reading. The story moves along quickly and smoothly through several fascinating European locations, following the travels and yes, drama, of Cora and her companions. It’s full of well-thought-out plot twists and turns that you most certainly will not suspect. Between those enthralling locations (can I go?! Please?!), gripping suspense (you won’t be able to put it down either…), and unexpected surprises, this book come together as a must-have for any Bergren fan. Just make sure you read Glamorous Illusions, book one, first…it’s crucial to understanding this one. Be warned – it doesn’t end with everything neatly wrapped up! There’s still a dose of mystery (and we have to wait HOW LONG for Glittering Promises?!). Overall, it was an amazing book and I did love it.

My overall opinion: This was an amazing book. While I still think that the River of Time series contained the best books by Lisa Bergren, I cannot wait to read more from this series! But I have to wait until next spring…so sad about that. ANYWAY. This is the story a young lady named Cora who lives in border-line poverty on a failing farm in Montana with her parents. A life-changing discovery results in her travelling on a Grand Tour with siblings she never knew she had. The Grand Tour is something that was done by the children of millionaires in the early 1900’s – it involved touring Europe. Glamorous Illusions is exciting and breath-taking, full of suspense and adventure and some growing up (yes, that’s interesting too). There’s even some romance. The end of the book leaves you hanging…but not so much that I don’t recommend reading it. Definitely worth your time! This book is going to the top of my “need-to-own” list! Very highly recommended.

A word about what I’ve read by Lisa T. Bergren…I started out by reading the River of Time series: Waterfall, Cascade, and Torrent. My favorite was Torrent. That series remains my favorite of anything I’ve read by Lisa. It’s time travel from now back to Italy in the 1500’s – riveting. Super exciting, really amazing. :) Then I read the Homeward Trilogy, Breathe, Sing, and Claim. They were set in Colorado, and were also wonderful. Again, my favorite was the third book, Claim. If you’re looking for a new author to enjoy (as I always am), I highly recommend Lisa T. Bergren. She’s amazing. Her books are amazing. It’s awesome.

Why I like this cover: How could anyone NOT like this cover?!? I knew I had to do a Cover Focus on it as soon as I saw it. That dress…oh wow. If I had one, I’d want it in blue, but pink goes perfectly with the cover. I love the layers in the skirt, all the fancy stuff on the sleeves, skirt, and back, and that train! I heart trains on dresses. The Eiffel Tower is so eye-catching! And that whole lane of trees – wow. I’d love to go take pictures there! What am I doing this Thursday? Oh, just running over to Eiffel Tower to have a photoshoot with some friends. I’d love to say that. And the font is perfect for the storyline, I think! I’m SO glad they didn’t do a black font. Would have ruined it!
