Movie: Emma

My rating on a 1-10 scale: 10
Genre: Romance
Primary actors: Romola Garai, Johnny Lee Miller, Michael Gambon
Based on: Emma by Jane Austen
Time period: 1800's
Quote(s): There are many quotable lines in here, but I'm unable to recall any at the moment. :(
Year it came out: 2009
My overall opinion: My rating shows...I love this movie! Saw it three times in a row. :) It's definitely worth every minute you spend watching it. About four hours long! But it's so totally worth it. You're guaranteed to love it if you enjoy reading Jane Austen's book and/or watching the movies of them. :) This one follows the book quite closely. Highly recommended! Oh, also, the soundtrack? I don't have the CD, but I LOVE the music! SO beautiful. :)

Love that scene, and the dance music. :)

Ahh! One of my favorite movies!! Just seeing the picture of it makes me smile!

Here's a quote I liked: "Knightly! She's never seen him a day in her life and she calls him Knightly! I've known him all my life, and even I don't call him THAT."

The ball is my favorite part of the movie. But I was rather sad that they left the 'brother and sister' part out...=(

I LOVE this film! It might almost be my favorite movie of all time! :)

Great review! I love the dance numbers in this version of Emma; my favorite has to be The Ship's Cook. Thanks for giving me a shout-out :-)

Melody: I smile when I see pictures from my favorite movies too. :) This one is so good!

Miss Laurie: It's definitely in my top few movies...I can't decide whether or not I like it as much as the 1995 P&P or not. :) I think they're tied!

Elegance of Fashion: No problem! It fit in perfectly right there, so. :) I love your blog!

Kait: I'm headed over to check it out! Thank you in advance!

Emma is my very favorite is Austen's(though everyone I know is determined to make me realize that P&P is better - I have not been persuaded).
You couldn't remember a quote? One of my favorites is: "My dearest Emma, for that is what you always have been and you always will be, my most beloved Emma. I cannot make speeches. If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more, but you know what I am..."
said by Mr. Knightly.

I always have a hard time remembering quotes, Kait, except from movies I've seen dozens of times. I'll watch this one a few more times, I think...:) Thanks for the quote; I love that line "If I loved you less...:)" So sweet. :)

Hahaha, oh dear. It makes me laugh when I go to comment on a post, saying a particular thing, and realize I've already said it. o.o

I've done that...as in, there was this blog. So I go and comment once. Come back to the same post some time later and _use the same words_ in a new comment. Oops. Come back a third time, read my second comment (which had been up for months) and kick myself. Crazy and hilarious. ;)

Oh well..."For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors, and laugh at them in our turn?" (Mr Bennet)

Oh dear! I spelled 'Knightley' wrong over there, too! How mortifying...;-)

Ha, I didn't notice the mis-spelling. At least, not to remember. ;) Ah, what a perfect quote! Very nice. :)

Hi! I just found your blog this evening and had to let you know! The first thing I saw was your profile picture of Mr. Darcy and Lizzie. Of course, then I HAD to check your blog out! :) My next thought was "has she seen the 2009 "Emma"?" Those two movies are some of my absolute favorites and it is SO delightful to find others who are fanatics too. :D Thank you for all the pictures from those movies....*sigh*

Kathryn, thanks for commenting! Ah yes, between my profile, blog name and header...it's clear I'm a devoted Austenite. ;) There are quite a few Austenites on the web who love those two Austen versions! I'm glad you're joining us. :)

Both those movies are my absolute favorites as well! It's really hard to get tired of them! =)

Emma is my favorite Austin book, so the movie had to perfect, and it was! It was the perfect cast and those costumes *gasp*! That yellow and blue dress she wears... gorgeous! Modest costumes too. She was JUST like the book, and the romance was extremely sweet.
