Justine Waddell was in a lot of period films in the late 90's, mostly in the role of the heroine. She is lovely and has a lot of talent! I just re-watched Great Expectations the other day and it was good but I always get a bit confused with the story. I understood it more having watched other adaptations. It is a pretty period drama though!
I've seen a few versions of Tess of the d'Urbervilles, it's considered a classic piece of literature but it's an awfully sad tale, Tess has a had victimized life and it doesn't end any better than it began. Justine Waddell is the most convincing in the role though.
Delightful Carey Mulligan! She's one of those young actresses who you really want to see succeed and continue being in more period dramas! I've also seen her in a Miss Marple film, she's so lovely!
Classic Julie Andrews! I miss her singing but she's still amazing.
I once heard someone say that no period drama would be complete without "an Imelda Staunton" and that's pretty much true. Most of my favorite period dramas she's had a role in. My favorite is still Miss Pole in Cranford, she's just so funny! I hope you get to see it soon, it's such a delightful miniseries!

I've really enjoyed this series!

Have you read Great Expectations? It's a very good book. :)

Oh dear, I don't like sad endings in anything. Especially not books and movies. :P

I do believe I did see that she had been in a Miss Marple...I've seen two of those and really enjoyed them. But since I didn't know I was watching for her, I didn't see her. :P

Yes, gotta love Julie Andrews! She's amazing.

I'm going to mention Cranford again to Mom and hopefully we can do it soon. :)

Hahaha, all those roles Imelda Staunton is in...they are very funny characters. ;) I recommend both David Copperfield and Cranford.

I love the pictures you put in this post especially of Justine Waddell and Carey Mulligan - how cute was she in P&P!!
Tess of the d'Urbervilles is a terribly tragic movie, i'm not sure what my opinion of it is though but it is really, really sad!

I recommend Cranford. It has it's serious and sad moments, but it also has it's funny moments and warm moments.
