Pride and Prejudice

Author: Jane Austen
Genre: Romance
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 10!
Type: Fiction

Time period: 1800's.
A few quotes: "Shelves in the closet! Happy thought indeed!" It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighborhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding families, that he is considered the rightful property of someone or other of their daughters. "Good opinion once lost, is lost forever." [Mrs. Bennet]  was a woman of mean understanding, little information, and uncertain temper. The business of her life was to get her daughters married. "She is tolerable, I suppose, but not handsome enough to tempt me!"

My overall opinion:

12-11-10 (original): One of my favorite books ever! I highly recommend you read it.

12-25-12 (update): This, along with Emma, is my favorite Jane Austen. It's rated 10 in part because back in 2010 I rated books as 10s a lot easier (honestly, I practically never do now!) and in part because this is a book that never tires out. It's not quite as full of new truths as the Bible, but it's kind of similar -- once you know it well, you can pick it up and flip open anywhere and find something awesome, whether it's a quote or a bit of humor or just a great scene. If you haven't read this yet, you're cheating yourself out of something wonderful. It's not hard -- give it a try this year!

One of my favorites, if not my favorite book! =D Most people call it a "romatic comedy", and I would have to agree - so many funny things!!
