Need to Read #13: Emma

Title: Emma

Author: Jane Austen

Book blurb: Beautiful, clever, rich - and single - Emma Woodhouse is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage. Nothing, however, delights her more than interfering in the romantic lives of others. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected. With its imperfect but charming heroine and its witty and subtle exploration of relationships, Emma is often seen as Jane Austen's most flawless work.

Quick endorsement: This book is almost tied with P&P as my favorite Austen. This is probably Austen’s most humorous book, and it is laugh out loud funny on multiple occasions. Emma is a great heroine, and who wouldn’t love Mr. Knightly? This is yet another must-read for each of you.

You are the first person (other than me) that I've seen has Emma as their second favorite Austen!
Most people I know don't like Emma very much.

I liked Emma very much! I think Northanger Abbey is my favorite, with Persuasion second. :)

Allie, "Emma" has such wonderful humor and wit...that's what earned it a place. Besides, I do enjoy Emma as a character too. :)

Jennifer, I need to read NA again...I've only read it once so far. Someday! I have it on my Kindle, so. :) And Persuasion is such a sweet story.
