Lord of the Rings Tag

Because I love tags, and I love Lord of the Rings, I decided to make myself a Lord of the Rings tag -- happy combination of two favorite things. Feel free to "steal" it and do it yourself; remember to leave me a link so I can read yours! :) I've divided it into three parts for extra ease.

Books:

Have you read the books? I have! I love them. If you haven’t read them yet, you really must – they are so worth it! Read my reviews of Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, and Return of the King.

Provided you’ve read the books, which is your favorite? Fellowship of the Ring has always been my favorite book. The Mines of Moria are fascinating!

Have you read The Hobbit? Yes. It’s a bit of an easier read than Lord of the Rings, so you might want to read it first – not to mention it’s a great introduction to the Lord of the Rings story.

Have you read any Lord of the Rings companions? Not movie companions, but Middle Earth and book companions. The only companion I’ve been so lucky as to read is The Atlas of Middle-Earth by Karen Wynn Fonstad. Read my review HERE! I loved it, and it truly is indispensable to a LotR lover!

Movies:

Have you seen the movies? Yes. I love them all! Read my reviews of Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, and Return of the King.

Have you read the any movie guides? If so, which one(s)? I’ve only really read Brian Sibley’s guide. I wasn’t overly impressed…read my review HERE. I did get to look through a few of the other guides, including the Photo Guides for Fellowship and Return (I think) and the Weapons and Warfare guide. But I haven’t read them, not really.

Which is your favorite movie? Return of the King. Happy endings make me happy.

What’s your favorite scene from the trilogy? The ending scenes in Return. Not quite the very last ones, but close. So sweet! And they lived happily ever after…

What scene do you find exceptionally touching? The ending scenes, yes. And any scene where it’s so clear that Eowyn really likes Aragorn.

Have you seen the extended movies? No. But I intend to someday. J

Story:

Tell us your three favorite characters (good luck narrowing it down!) and why. I’m going to go through three who are together all the time anyway. Aragorn – because he has an awesome sword, is amazingly brave, and is a wonderful person. Legolas – because elves are cool, he has a bow and arrow, and he’s blond (I’m a blond…I like people who look like me. ;) And Gimli – because he’s really quite hilarious! I especially love his competition with Legolas at Helm’s Deep about who killed the most orcs!

Who bugs you most, in terms of being really annoying (but not necessarily really wicked)? Saruman. He’s so oily and powerful…and wicked.

What are your feelings on Boromir? *sniff* He was good at heart, but loved his city too much. He really was wonderful in the ending of Fellowship and early Two Towers.

Who do you like better, Aragorn or Faramir? Aragorn. He’s way too awesome! Faramir's great, but...

Which Lord of the Rings weapon would you most like to learn to use? Aragorn’s sword. People who use swords are cool.

What do you think about Eowyn? I’m sorry for her through most of the books (and movies) but thankfully she has a happy ending. She’s so amazing in her scene with Angmar, the head Ring-wraith! I do like her a lot.

If you were going into battle, which character would you want to take with you? Wanna guess? Yup, Aragorn. In close range, a sword would be better than Legolas’ bow.

Which girl is your favorite? Oh, that’s hard. Not Galadriel (who’s not really a girl). I like Arwen, though as a certain friend of mind has pointed out to me several times, she never really does anything brave. I still like her. Besides, she marries…well, someone I also like. ;) And I think Eowyn is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Killing that Ring-wraith? Wow!

Which hobbit is your favorite? Not Frodo. Not really Sam either, though I like him better than Frodo. Probably Pippin – he’s such a cute little guy! And Merry is great too.

Which location is your favorite? Mines of Moria. They fascinate me. Of course, I love Minas Tirith and Rivendell and Lorien, but the Mines of Moria are, believe it or not, the place I most would want to visit!

So, I have a question. What is a tag?
I have another question.
What do you mean when you say "She’s so amazing in her scene with Angmar, the head Ring-wraith!" That makes no sense. Angmar is a place to the north of Rivendell. Thats not the ring-wraith's name. Maybe I'm missunderstanding. Let me know.
:)

I love this tag! Wow, you made it? You are so amazing! Haha! I would love to answer it sometime. But I have not even done the literary tag you shared before. It's still in my drafts, quite untouched yet. But I'm hoping to do both of these tags you shared soon.

Josh -- I called him Angmar because I got the impression that that was his name from page 56 of the Atlas. :) However, as I continue reading Return, I think that you're right that he's not actually named.

Jemimah, I was in a tag-making mood one day and made a whole bunch! This is only the first -- potentially more to come. :) I will look forward to reading your answers to both tags!

Naomi, glad you did it! I enjoyed yours. :)

PS to Josh -- a tag is merely a set of questions, random or themed as the creator likes. It's called a tag (I think) because you usually "tag" people/blogs to do the questions. Not always, though, and not here.

I love how you like Sam better than Frodo. Those have always been my feelings. Another male character not many people recognize is Eomer. In the books he is quite a leader and has more recognition than in the movies.

GSB, Eomer is wonderful! I wish they hadn't played him down quite so much in the movies.
