The Storyteller’s Daughter

Author: Cameron Dokey
Genre: Fairy tale (Shahrazad)
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8.5
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: 218
Time period: Fantasy
My overall opinion: I enjoyed this unique retelling of Shahrazad’s story! I didn’t love the book, and prefer Shadow Spinner by Susan Fletcher, but it was a fun book, and I would recommend it.
(The cover I wish mine had...)

I enjoyed this one well enough. I think it rather on the lower or lower-average end of Princess Retellings (Levine, McKinley, and Jessica Day George are the best I have read). I will have to try Shadow Spinner.

I agree about it being on the lower end. "Shadow Spinner" is great, and so are the authors you mentioned! I have read and enjoyed books by them all.

I don't specifically love that book, but I do LOVE Cameron Dokey's books! :)

I love this series! I especially like the one that retells the 12 dancing princesses, since it's fairy tale meets King Arthur. The Little Red Riding Hood one was different...anyways, I digress.
