Cover Focus: Heiress

Heiress by Susan May Warren

Book blurb from goodreads.com : “They can buy anything they want— fame, power, beauty, even loyalty. But they can’t buy love. The beautiful and wealthy heiress daughters of August Price can buy everything their hearts desire. But what if their desire is to be loved, without an enormous price tag attached? When one sister betrays another for the sake of love, will she find happiness? And what happens when the other sets out across the still untamed frontier to find it—will she discover she’s left it behind in the glamorous world of the New York gilded society? What price will each woman pay for being an heiress? Set in the opulent world of the Gilded Age, two women discover that being an heiress just might cost them everything they love.”

Why I like this cover: It’s intriguing, you’ve got to admit. Just the fact that it doesn’t show her eyes makes you curious! I think it’s safe to assume she’s the heiress, don’t you? Those pearls around her neck and wrist…wow. Oh, and the earrings! And then that dress…well, I don’t think it’s the cheapy type. I’m not sure what material it is. Did you notice the ring on her finger? A great big gem. It’s hard to tell what expression she has on without seeing her eyes, but I think she might be close to a smile. Either that, or a sneer. Not sure. Finally, I love the “H” in Heiress, and the “Susan May.” That font is so loopy, yet easy to read, positively delightful.
I’ve read one book by Susan May Warren, and it was a riveting one. It’s not reviewed on here, though…and at the moment, the title isn’t coming to mind. However, I’d say that if you can get your hands on this one, it’s worth the read! I haven’t read it, but I think it’s safe to recommend it. J Oh, I also read her Missions of Mercy series, which was thoroughly enjoyable, and is reviewed on here.

I prefer it when they don't show the model's face in cover photos. That way it doesn't mess with your mental image of the character. I love, love, LOVE Susan May Warren's books! The PJ Sugar series was amazing. I haven't read any of her historical novels, but I want to soon.

Rissi, I'm glad to hear it was good! I anticipate reading it someday... and "Baroness" has an intriguing cover too!

Kate, I like when they show the face provided it's the RIGHT face. :) Sometimes it is, you know. But then too, sometimes not showing her face is better.
