Inheritance

Author: Christopher Paolini
Genre: Fantasy, adventure
Series: The Inheritance Cycle
Number in series: 4th
My rating on a 1-10 scale: 8.5
Type: Fiction
Number of pages: 849
Time period: Fantasy
My overall opinion: I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought that the first ¼ or so was a bit … chunky? Elementary? Something about the style bothered me – not sure what. BUT this may well be due simply to the different style of the book that I was reading right before starting Inheritance, or to the mood I was in that day. The rest of the book didn’t bother me at all. I enjoyed it all immensely! I don’t want to give any of it away…but for those of you who have a copy handy, I loved the passages between pages 553 and 568. Way. Too. Cool. J And the battles were wonderful too! A good ending to the series. I can’t wait to see what Paolini comes out with next!

You liked the ending? It was completely unsatisfying from a romantic standpoint! No, N & M should have gotten together, and E & A were essentially created for each other, plus, he totally set it up for ANOTHER book about M & T. He needs someone to write a new ending.

Poet, good point. That was quite disappointing!

It seemed to me like he started with a style that imitated Tolkien, in the first book, but as he grew as a writer, it just didn't fit him anymore, but he was stuck with that voice...it was just a bad style for him, I think.
